Workshop: The Rungus Woven Cloth

The women folk in North Borneo has been weaving their clothing from the early days using pineapple fibre or banana fibre or a type of plant known as ‘Lamba‘. However, with the arrival of cotton clothing into the North Borneo Island, the demand for the woven cloth has decreased over the years.
With not people left with the weaving skills, this skills is facing extinction as not many younger generation nowadays willing to learn and continue the legacy.
During this is 2-days workshop, participants will learn how to weave the traditional woven cloth from cotton threads. Participation is limited to 5 person only.
Upon completion, participant are expected to be able to produce their own woven cloth.
Fees: RM450/pax inclusive of tools, materials, lunch & tea-breaks.
